HISTORICAL CENTER
The historical centre preserves narrow streets, courtyards and architecture from the medieval and Renaissance periods. Among the main points of interest are the Church of Sant'Agnese and the Town Hall.
VISCONTI CASTLE OF SAN VITO
A symbolic monument of Somma L.: built between the 13th and 14th centuries as part of the defense line along the Ticino River.
Guided tours: preferably by reservation, from April to October.
VOLANDIA
Located in the immediate vicinity of Milan Malpensa Airport, Volandia is Italy's largest aeronautical museum and park. The exhibition illustrates the evolution of flight through historic aircraft, simulators, interactive spaces and temporary exhibitions.

BEACHES OF THE TICINO RIVER
The Ticino River offers numerous access points to the shore, surrounded by the vegetation of the Park, where you can spend a few hours relaxing in contact with nature. Among the most popular areas are: Vizzola Ticino beach, Maddalena beach, Panperduto beach and the banks of the Ticino between Somma Lombardo and Golasecca.
PANPERDUTO DAM
Located along the Ticino River, this is a system of dams and canals built in the second half of the 19th century to regulate the river's waters and feed the Lombardy canals, including the Industrial Canal and the Villoresi Canal. It can be reached on foot or by bicycle via a flat, well-marked dirt road surrounded by greenery.

Somma Lombardo occupies a strategic position between the province of Varese and the Alto Milanese area. From here, you can quickly reach numerous places of interest.
Gallarate – 10 minutes by car or 8 minutes by train. A lively town with a pedestrian centre, shops and local museums.
Busto Arsizio – 20 minutes by car or 15 minutes by train. Known for its Art Nouveau architecture and numerous cultural events.
Varese – 30 minutes by car. Offers historic villas, gardens and the famous Sacro Monte di Varese, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sesto Calende – 15 minutes by car or 10 minutes by train. A riverside town with scenic walks and well-equipped beaches.
Tornavento – 15 minutes by car. A charming village overlooking the Ticino river, known for its panoramic terrace and historical trail.
Turbigo – 25 minutes by car. A historic town along the Ticino river, featuring a cycle path that connects the two sides of the river.
Arona – 30 minutes by car. A tourist resort on the lake, with a lakeside promenade, shops and panoramic views of the Rocca di Angera.
Angera – 25 minutes by car. Famous for the Rocca Borromea and its views of Lake Maggiore.
Stresa – 40–45 minutes by car. An elegant town on Lake Maggiore, known for its historic grand hotels, flower gardens and wonderful panoramic lakeside promenade. Boats depart from here for the Borromean Islands: Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori.
Milano – 45–55 minutes by car or 40 minutes by train. Ideal for a day trip dedicated to art and culture.
Como – 50–60 minutes by car. Elegant lakeside town, with scenic walks and connections to Lake Como.
THE LAKES
MAGGIORE LAKE
About 20–35 minutes by car. It is one of Italy's most famous lakes, with lakeside promenades, piers, equipped beaches and panoramic views. From Angera you can admire the Rocca Borromea, while boats depart from Arona for the Borromean Islands and Stresa.
COMABBIO LAKE
About 15–20 minutes by car. A small lake, ideal for walking and light sports. It is entirely surrounded by a 12-kilometer cycle path, immersed in nature.
VARESE LAKE
About 25–30 minutes by car. Known for its scenic views and the panoramic cycle path that runs alongside it. Nearby are the Torba Monastery and the Sacro Monte di Varese, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.
MONATE LAKE
About 25 minutes by car. A small lake with clear waters, very popular in summer. It has several equipped beaches and quiet areas for public swimming.
MERGOZZO LAKE
About 45–50 minutes by car. Located next to Lake Maggiore, it is one of the cleanest lakes in Italy, free of motorboats and perfect for swimming, canoeing and relaxing.
D’ORTA LAKE
About 50–55 minutes by car. More intimate and romantic, it is home to the village of Orta San Giulio, with its famous Sacro Monte and the small island of San Giulio, which can be reached by boat.
